I guess the term Global warming has become a common term within our vocabulary, but what if it weren't.. maybe Does anyone remember those peaceful days back then when Uganda perhaps the whole world was a perfect place to be and environmentally stable in ts of the Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere? But now,Early mornings in Kampala especially are filled with Carbon dioxide emitted from Cars,Industries,And all sorts of burning fuel..I remember those Biology lessons where we were told the percentage of Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was 0.03% this increased some years back to 0.04%. Well it must be just a 0.01% increase but to the environment its just like the usual stock market prices increasing or decreasing by .2,in otherwards its catasttrophic!
Global warming by the way is just actually the planet being warmed up because heat from the sun is reflected back to the earth by the presence of a carbon dioxide layer just above the earth formed due to carbon dioxide emissions from different Carbon dioxide producing man made features. As a result there is increased water loss from water bodies and plants due to the excessive heat. Condensation occurs forming rain clouds as a result there is heavy rainfall in areas which do not normally receive rainfall or it may rain during drought time in some areas causing floods just like as it was earlier this year in Kasese areas, and all this is just a percentage increase of 0.01%.. Well that is just how unstable nature is..
But there is a solution to Global warming, well i guess we have all heard of the plant more trees, use altenative sources of fuel stories Right?? But what if there is more than those old srories? What if we would use the biggest problem we have right here in Uganda? Here in Kampala City!! To reduce global warming!!! Well our rubbish is just a mess yet it is a source of bio gas, in otherwards Power! Just thhink of how many mega watts of green power Kitezi dumping site would generate a year? At the same time being very cheap and environmentally friendly at the same time? Or how many kilo watts of power your own human waste from your home would generate a day? Instead of having to pay a heavy UMEME bill at the end of the month.#Just saying..
Well we could also ditch the cars that burn fuel how about owning a good mountain bike rather than the Range rover sport or the Audi Q7 or the BMW X6, just saying.. With the bike its cheap, no fuel cost, yet very healthy for you and the environment, helps keep you physically fit( I bet that does not come with the new Toyota VX) and lastly no traffic jam stress especially that Kamwokya to Nakawa Friday evening traffic jam!!
May be you could drive once or twice a week just when doing your home shopping or when there is that early morning beautiful rain sprinkle shower?
We could also recycle the usual plastics and polythene bags as we wait for the government to ban the manufacture of polythene.. Last but never least we should conserve.. We can not protect what we do not have, lets conserve our Kampala at least since the budget ws read recently at a little cost lower than salaries of many of us,
FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY!
